Each week, the Capeless Crew picks out those books that we think are most worthy of your dollars and attention. Without further ado, here are this week’s picks!

Phantom Stranger #4“PHANTOM STRANGER #4″
Dan Didio continues the tale of one of literature’s greatest villains. With the revelation that the Phantom Stranger is religion’s greatest betrayer, this series has added weight, even as it serves as a vehicle for the origin stories of some of the heavy hitters of the mystical side of the New 52 universe. Simply put, if you haven’t been following this series, and you love magic and intrigue, it’s time to jump onboard.

Star Wars #1“STAR WARS #1″
The concept behind this book is bold. Dark Horse has handed the Star Wars universe over to superstar writer Brian Wood (Channel Zero, The Massive) and charged him to reshape the mythos as if all that existed were A New Hope. With Wood at the helm, the series is sure to be fantastically written, and with Alex Ross contributing some of the most gorgeous cover art in comics, it is sure to be a beautiful tale.

Jinnrise 1“JINNRISE #1″
A mystical tale of Middle-Eastern intritue, this latest offering from IDW delivers more than just beauty on the page, but a story that resonates with events on our own world. Give it a read. As Jeff Hayes says in his advance review, you won’t regret it.

Superior Spider-Man“SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #1″
This is a book so controversial that the writer has received death threats. On the heels of the astonishing reveal at the end of Amazing Spider-Man, Dan Slott has set this series up for a fantastic start. Will it deliver on the promise? The only way to find out is to go and pick up a copy. Then send a death threat.

.

Fantastic Four #3“FANTASTIC FOUR #3″
Matt Fraction has taken the series back to its roots by reestablishing Marvel’s First Family as the preeminent explorers. While the first two issues raised some serious questions about Reed’s characterization, the book has thus far captured the essentials that make the FF one of Marvel’s greatest dynamics. Jump on this series now, before it’s too late.
